 Shri Vishwakarma Puja Day is generally celebrated on the Gregorian date of 17 September every year in the states of India, Karnataka, Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Tripura.  This festival is usually celebrated in factories and industrial areas (usually on the shop floor).  Vishwakarma is considered the creator of the world and the architect of the gods.  It falls on the 'Kanya Sankranti' of the Hindu calendar.

 Lord Vishwakarma, the world's first architect

 Lord Vishwakarma is considered to be the world's first engineer and architect and he designed many mythological buildings.  Lord Vishwakarma had built Indrapuri, Dwarka, Hastinapur, Swargloka, Lanka and Jagannathpuri.  He had prepared the trident of Lord Shiva and the Sudarshan Chakra of Lord Vishnu.  That is why all the engineers and people associated with machines consider Lord Vishwakarma as their God.

 The importance of Vishwakarma worship is considered very special in the scriptures.  It is believed that in the houses, factories and industrial establishments where Lord Vishwakarma is worshipped, Goddess Lakshmi also resides there and such institutions are always profitable.  People associated with the technical field also worship their tools and tools on Vishwakarma Jayanti.  It is believed that by doing this their tools work well without any hindrance.

 It has been told about Lord Vishwakarma that he works to make weapons, palaces and ornaments etc. of the gods.  Machines engaged in factories, offices and industries are worshiped on the day of worship of Lord Vishwakarma.  First of all arrange Akshat i.e. rice, flowers, sweets, fruit roli, betel nut, incense, lamp, rakshasutra, worship post, curd and picture of Lord Vishwakarma.  Make Ashtadal Rangoli with rice flour at the puja post.  Place 7 types of grains on top of it.  Install the idol or photo of Lord Vishwakarma on it.  say with akshat in hand.

 Place the idol or picture, whatever it may be, on the heap of rice.  Then by awakening the belief in the mind that Lord Vishwakarma is in front of you, salute him and then worship him. Apply tilak and akshat on the tools and then offer flowers.
